Our workshops are regularly scheduled events held in large cities around the U.S., as well as on-site workshops upon request. Custodial & Housekeeping On-Site Workshops start at $14,850.00 and allow up to 15 participants (additional participants for additional fee).

Agenda

Both Days, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

MAJOR TOPICS THAT WILL BE COVERED DURING THIS TRAINING:

  1.  The need for a good custodial program

    • Respecting the custodial position

    • Teamwork and helping your co-workers

    • The importance of following a cleaning schedule

    • The custodian’s role in improving Indoor Air Quality & Occupant Health & Safety

  2. Staying organized

    • Stockrooms and storage facilities

    • Janitor closets

    • Buckets, carts, trays, and trash cans

  3. Safety–danger zones for custodians

    • Communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens

    • Cleaning techniques to battle all viruses, including MRSA & COVID-19

    • More effective Germ Removal Techniques for limiting the spread of germs

    • The importance of Sanitation: Phones; trash cans; restrooms; keyboards

    • Personal protective equipment (PPE)

    • Lifting and Moving heavy objects

    • Ergonomics

    • Caution signs, wet floor signs, and caution tape

    • Fire extinguishers and eye wash stations

  4. The seven basic custodial duties in detail (trdswvm)

    • Trash emptying

    • Refill / Replace dispensables

    • Dusting

    • Spraying [chemicals] for custodial tasks: Chemicals for different needs; understanding the PH scale; green cleaning chemicals and standards; mixing & diluting; labeling; understanding Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS); tools for spraying; techniques for effective and efficient spraying

    • Wiping (agitating)

    • Vacuuming and dust mopping-daily maintenance of carpeting and flooring

    • Wet mopping

  5. Entry way exterior maintenance

    • Building exteriors: Graffiti removal; exterior stairs; pressure washing

  6. Miscellaneous cleaning tasks

    • Proper cleaning of restrooms

    • Windows and blinds

    • Kitchen and food prep areas: Stainless steel care; counter tops; appliances

    • Doors and stairways

    • Drinking fountains and chalkboards

    • Ceilings, walls and light fixtures

    • Furniture

    • Seasonal Cleaning Tasks

  7. Proper care of equipment and tools

  8. Looking out for maintenance repairs during your cleaning routines

    • Plumbing leaks and Roofing leaks

    • Fire Hazards and Exposed Electrical

    • Tripping Hazards: Thresholds; concrete cracks; etc.

Workshop Description

Finally, a practical training service that gives you "hands-on" practice while you learn trade skills.

Workshop includes:
Essentials of Custodial Maintenance and Understanding Chemicals for Custodial Programs.

The workshop agenda has been structured to include the most common types of custodial maintenance problems encountered in Facility and Custodial Management. Participants will learn important organizational skills, speed cleaning techniques, the proper use of chemicals, new products, the operation of cleaning equipment, safety, and what to look for to avoid problems.  New topics added to the workshop: Battling COVID-19, MRSA,  Using Green Chemicals, Improving Indoor Air Quality & Occupant Health, and Proper Disinfecting Techniques.

 

The workshop will offer some hands-on opportunities to learn about custodial maintenance under the supervision of our knowledgeable workshop leader.  Workshop participants will receive a detailed custodial workbook to use during the training, which will be theirs to keep for future reference on the job.  TSA certificates will be presented to all who attend this training.

Minimum Enrollment Policy and Disclaimer

A minimum number of participants must be signed up in order to run any workshop (typically 15).

If minimum enrollment is not met, Training Services Association retains the right to cancel the workshop. If this happens, all enrollees will receive a 100% refund.
